Wafer connector types
Dec 30, 2022
Connector pins, also known as headers and wafers in the industry, are connectors mounted on the printed circuit board and soldered to the circuit pins.
Common connector pin holders are: uncovered base (for example, row pin structure), covered base (common wafer type), and friction latch type.
The pin holder of the connector belongs to the special plastic in high temperature environment and needs to have the characteristics of high temperature resistance. For example, the pin holder used for surface mounting welding needs to be welded by reflow welding equipment, and the temperature resistance needs to reach about 265°; The other is that the pin type needs to be welded by wave soldering equipment, and the temperature resistance needs to reach about 230°. If the temperature resistance of plastics can not reach the welding process will affect the normal use of structural deformation.
The plastic materials used in the connector pin base are: Nylon, high temperature nylon, polyester -PBT, polyester -PCT, PPS, LCP, etc., different plastic materials in the molding process of fluidity, process length, shrinkage, water absorption, linear expansion coefficient are not the same, in the plastic mold development and the use of materials have a great relationship need to be accurate calculation.
